Hello families,  In math we have been learning all about polygons. We started by defining that a polygon is a closed 2 dimensional shape with straight sides. and looked at different shapes that qualify such as triangle, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, heptagons and octagons. We spent time sorting polygons and identifying them by their sides and vertices. On Friday, students worked in pairs and participated in a challenge to solve various questions about what they learned about polygons throughout the week.

Hello families,  over the past 2 weeks our class participated in the alien inline roller blading program. Students learned about proper safety equipment to wear and beginner rollerblading techniques. Students had so much fun participating in this awesome opportunity! November Music Update November was a great month in music for our grade 3 students! We practiced some signing by listening to and repeating short melodies. These melodies were then expanded upon as students began to learn songs such as “Bell Horses” and “Little Tommy Tinker”. Our goal is to soon be able to play these songs as an ensemble using xylophones and other percussion instruments. Students are continuing to work on both songs while practicing their xylophone technique through improvisation!

This week we learned about the words empathy and compassion. We discussed what these words look like and sound like at school and in our classroom. Then, students worked with a partner to match an emotion with a scenario and a way to respond to their scenario with empathy.
