June 28th, 2024- Thank You!

Hello Grade 3 Families,  Thank you for all of your help and support to make this a wonderful year! I hope everyone has a relaxing and fun Summer with family and friends. Good luck to everyone moving on to a new school in the Fall, and for those returning to Ramsay I hope to see you again soon.  Take care and we will catch up down the road,  Drew

Hello families,  This week we were lucky enough to spend a lot of time outdoors! We had a great field trip on Thursday to St. Patrick's Island where we completed several tasks that we had worked on throughout our community walks this year. These tasks included writing a haiku, sketching a bridge using 2D shapes and creating a sound map. The students showed a great growth mindset and a positive attitude during this big walking journey.

Hello families,  This week we had the opportunity to work with our kindergarten buddies! We worked together to create symmetrical pictures of a butterfly. Grade 3's did a great job being leaders and encouraging their buddies when they made mistakes or encountered challenges.

Hello families,  In Math we have been looking at pictographs and bar graphs. Some key vocabulary we learned this week included labels, scales, most/least common, most/least popular and data. Once we became familiar with the necessary terms and what a bar graph needs to include, we collected data on the average bed times of students in our class. Once data was collected students worked in pairs to show our findings in a bar graph.  Have a great weekend,  Drew

Hello families,  This week we examined the artwork of Georgia O'Keefe to create acrylic paintings on canvas. We looked at O'Keefe's close up paintings of flowers to help us with our creations.  Please note that next week is Ramsay School's celebration of learning from 6:00-7:30 PM. Families are welcome to visit at anytime and encouraged to visit the classrooms.

Hello families,  This week we persevered through some less than ideal weather to have a great morning at Weaselhead Flats Park. While there we had the opportunity to view the habitats, adaptations and life cycles of invertebrates, squirrels, garter snakes, mud swallows, beavers and other living plants and animals.

Hello families, This week we celebrated Earth Day by participating in an assembly for our school. Students had the chance to share our Earth Day themed cinquains, artwork and sing a song with the other grade 3 and 4 students.
