 Hello Grade 3 Families, 

Thank you for all of your help and support to make this a wonderful year! I hope everyone has a relaxing and fun Summer with family and friends. Good luck to everyone moving on to a new school in the Fall, and for those returning to Ramsay I hope to see you again soon.

 This week we dug in to our first topic in math-increasing and decreasing number patterns. We learned about strategies for identifying if a number pattern is increasing or decreasing. We also looked at using a hundred chart as a tool for finding the gap between numbers in a pattern.  Students worked with a partner to demonstrate what they learned by using these long number lines to create a number pattern they were given.

 Hello families,  Thank you to everyone who was able to join us at our open house on Thursday afternoon. If you were unable to make it, please reach out to me and I would be happy to schedule a time for you to come in and visit the classroom.  This week we started writing a personal narrative. A personal narrative is a form of storytelling where we tell the events of a true story that happened to us in the order they happened. Students worked on creating an effective introduction and using transition words such as first, next, then, last, finally and after.  This week we learned about the words empathy and compassion. We discussed what these words look like and sound like at school and in our classroom. Then, students worked with a partner to match an emotion with a scenario and a way to respond to their scenario with empathy.
